Abstract

Salah satu kendala dari penggunaan asbuton adalah aspal pada asbuton terletak dalam rongga antara mineral yang tidak mudah keluar dan mencair.Karena itu, pada asbuton butiran perlu ditambahkan dengan bahan pelunak (modifier) yang berfungsi agar aspal tersebut dapat keluar dan mengikat partikel-partikel agregat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik campuran asbuton akibat penambahan keroseneagar diperoleh campuran asbuton dengan kinerja yang optimum. Prosentase kerosene yang ditambahkan adalah 0%, 5%, 10% dan 15% terhadap berat asbuton butiran. Parameter yang digunakan untuk menguji kualitas campuran adalah rongga di antara mineral agregat (voids in the mineral aggregate = VMA), ronggadalamcampuran (voids in mix = VIM), rongga yang diselimutiaspal (voids filled with asphalt = VFA),  stabilitas, kelelehan, dan Marshall Quotient. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan 10% kerosene terhadap asbuton butiran menghasilkan VMA sebesar 16,04%, VIM sebesar 3,56%, VFB sebesar 77,82%, stabilitas Marshall sebesar 2160,4 kg, flow sebesar 3,4 mm dan Marshall Quotient sebesar 644,4 kg/mm. Ditinjau dari persyaratan asphalt concrete-wearing course, hasil pengujian yang diperoleh telah memenuhi ketentuan yang berlaku.
