Abstract

Selama masa layan, kinerja material beton sangat dipengaruhi oleh lingkungan yang pada akhirnya dapat menurunkan durabilitasnya. Salah satu pengaruh lingkungan adalah keberadaan karbondioksida CO2 di udara. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sejauh mana pengaruh CO2 terhadap beberapa karakteristik beton meliputi: kedalaman penetrasi CO2 , kuat tekan, modulus elastisitas, dan reliabilitas. Sampel beton di letakkan dalam suatu atmosfer dengan konsentrasi CO2 sebesar 7% selama 43 hari. Selama perawatan itu temperatur di osilasi dengan range 200-600 C dan kelembaban berkisar 600-900 C. Ditemukan bahwa CO2 telah berpenetrasi ke dalam beton dengan kedalaman maksimum 3 cm. Karena beton mengalami pemadatan setelah bereaksi dengan CO2, maka kuat tekan menjadi naik sedikit tetapi modulus elastisitasnya turun. Reliabilitas beton yang terkena CO2 juga mengalami penurunan dibandingkan dengan beton yang tidak terkena CO2.
