Abstract
Telah dilakukan penelitian tentang pemanfaatan campuran serbuk batu apung dengan abu sekam padi sebagai pengganti semen. Nilai termahal dari bahan mortar adalah semen, oleh karena itu diupayakan mencari alternatif bahan yang bisa menggantikan fungsi semen. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggantian sebagian semen oleh bahan pozzolan alam terhadap sifat fisik pasta semen dan sifat mekaniknya. Analisis karakteristik semen yang menggunakan pozzolan alam di wilayah Mataram Nusa Tenggara Barat meliputi pengujian konsistensi normal, setting time, temperatur hidrasi dan uji kuat tekan. Proses pengujian dilakukan dengan beberapa variasi persentase yaitu 0%, 10%, 20% dan 30%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa karakteristik penggantian semen oleh pozzolan alam dapat memperlama waktu pengerasan, menurunkan suhu hidrasi dan memerlukan volume air yang lebih besar untuk menjaga konsistensi normal. Adapun kekuatan pasta semen mencapai nilai optimum pada prosentase 10%, komposisi 20% masih memenuhi syarat SNI 03-6825-2002 yang pada akhirnya bisa menekan biaya konstruksi. Komposisi pozzolan 30% tidak direkomendasi untuk digunakan karena tidak memenuhi standar SNI.
