Abstract

Bambu merupakan salah satu alternatif bahan bangunan ramah lingkungan,yang dapat menggantikan kayu. Disamping memiliki banyak keunggulan, bambu juga memiliki kelemahan yaitu kuat geser sejajar seratnya rendah. Solusi untuk mengatasi kelemahan tersebut adalah dengan memberikan bahan pengisi pada ruas bambu disekitar sambungan sehingga terjadi komposit setempat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sifat mekanik (kuat tekan dan kuat geser) bambu komposit setempat berpengisi plastik Polyethylane Terephthalate (PET) dan serbuk gergaji kayu. Lima variasi benda uji dibuat yaitu BK-0 (bambu tanpa pengisi sebagai kontrol), BK-1 (bambu berpengisi plastik PET), BK-2 (bambu berpengisi plastik PET + dilabur perekat), BK-3 (bambu berpengisi plastik PET + serbuk gergaji kayu), BK-4 (bambu berpengisi plastik PET + serbuk gergaji kayu dan dilabur perekat). Hasil pengujian memberikan nilai kuat tekan  bambu dari  BK-0 sampai dengan BK-4 berturut-turut sebesar 22.7 MPa, 29.4 MPa, 32.7 MPa, 33.2 MPa, 35.7 MPa atau terjadi peningkatan kuat tekan terhadap  BK-0 berturut-turut sebesar 30%, 44%, 46%, dan 57%.  Sedangkan nilai kuat geser bambu dari BK-0 sampai dengan BK-4 berturut-turut sebesar  4.55 MPa, 5.00 MPa, 5.05 MPa, 5.40 MPa, 5.50 MPa atau terjadi peningkatan kuat geser terhadap  BK-0 berturut-turut sebesar 10%, 11%, 19%, dan 21%.
